Five blogging tips

  1. Write posts ahead of time and save them for “hard times.” There will be times when you don’t have the time or energy to blog, and these will be lifesavers.
  2. Invest some time in “widgets” for your blog. Akismet is one that you should look into; it helps you identify and eliminate comment spam.
  3. Don’t moderate comments if you can get away with it. Trying to read and moderate every comment will get time-consuming. Even if you only get an occasional comment, it’s better to let it go on the site rather than sit and wait for you to remember to approve it. (Yep, I’ve done that.) #2 will help you do this without loading your blog up with spam.
  4. Mix long and short posts. Not every post has to be extremely detailed. Smaller, quicker posts are fine too as long as they’re useful.
  5. You can’t please everyone. ‘Nuff said.
