I have a terribly romanticized view of serious writing. I do almost all of my writing (aside from blog posts) long hand on good old fashioned college rule notebook. When I am stumped or stuck on a thought, I pull out the antique typewriter and write on it. There is nothing so inspiring, for me at least, as contemplating all of the previous writers who've typed on it and what they've said, what they've written...It is an almost instant cure for writer's block.

Also, you are probably beyond needing it, but there is a really wonderful book by Elizabeth Berg called Escaping into the Open: The Art of Writing True. It has lots of excellent writing exercises and tips focusing.
